Hey everyone! Welcome back to DisforKids, where we talk about Disney as only a kid can tell it! I’m Sophie, and today we’ll be counting down the top 5 things to do in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Galaxy’s Edge has been complete for about a month and a half now, and it is totally awesome! I recently got to experience this land, and it was one of my favorite parts of the trip. All of Batu’u was unreal, but these were my personal favorites. So, let’s get into it!
5. Play Disney Parks: The Play Disney Parks app has been out for about six months now, and features fun games and trivia while you wait in line. There are a ton of interactive things to do in the app when you’re in Galaxy’s Edge. The app contains a Datapad, where you can take jobs, hack into objects, scan crates, and translate languages, all while building your reputation as a Resistance ally, a First Order supporter, or a smuggler. My favorite job was working for Hondo Ohnaka. This app was especially helpful while I was waiting in line for Smuggler’s Run, and I think it’s really fun!
4. Merchant Row: There are many things to do on Batu’u, but one of my personal favorites is walk around Merchant Row. Merchant Row is a section of Galaxy’s Edge with seemingly dozens of shops to look around in. You can create a lightsaber in Savi’s Workshop, assemble your own custom droid at the Droid Depot, and purchase Jedi and Sith artifacts at Dok-Andar’s Den of Antiquities. Dok-Andar’s shop contains an amazingly realistic Dok-Andar Audio-Animatronic, which is super cool! My brother and I also adopted Kowakian monkey-lizards, from the Creature Stall, where you can also buy Porgs. As you can see, Merchant Row is a great place to take a look at, even if you don’t buy anything!
3. Oga’s Cantina: Cantinas are a notable part of the Star Wars movies, and you can’t hear the classic cantina song without immediately picturing the Bith musicians seen throughout the films, so it was natural that Imagineers would insert a cantina into Galaxy’s Edge. When you walk inside Oga’s Cantina, you feel like you are in one of the movies. The bar has several special effects that activate when you order certain drinks, which I think is a nice touch. Also, DJ Rex puts on his own show in the corner, commenting on the music. The drinks are extremely fun, too. I ordered the Carbon Freeze, which smoked with dry ice when the drink arrived. My parents got the Black Spire Brew, and delicious coffee drink. All in all, I had a really good time and thought it was amazing.
2. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run: Smuggler’s Run is one of the two attractions the land has to offer. I got up at 4:30 A.M. to ride it one day, and it was totally worth it! On this ride, you go to briefing with Hondo Ohnaka, the most advanced Audio-Animatronic to date, then you enter the Millennium Falcon. It feels like you literally stepped onto Han and Chewie’s ship! Even the holochess table, from several of the movies, was on the ship. Next, you step into the cockpit, and take off. You can be a pilot, a gunner, or an engineer. I tried the pilot, and I was terrible! Hondo guides you the whole time, helping you steal coaxium to help the Resistance. This ride is unreal, and when I hit the hyperdrive, it felt like I was really there! This ride was definitely worth the wait!
1 Rise of the Resistance: Rise of the Resistance is by far the most technologically advanced, immersive, and coolest ride ever! Once again, I got up really early to ride this, and it was the best part of my day. The best part of this ride, in my opinion, is that Disney completely immerses you in the experience. You feel like you are a part of a Star Wars movie. Since I’m not giving any spoilers, I’m limited in what I can say, but this ride is totally worth any wait, and it is now my favorite ride in all of Disney World!
Well, there you have it! Those are my top 5 things to do in Galaxy’s Edge! I hope you enjoyed reading this and it was helpful in deciding what to do. Galaxy’s Edge is probably my favorite land in a Disney Park, and I hope you have as good of a time here as I did! Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time on DisforKids!
