Welcome back to DisForKids, where we talk about Disney as only a kid can tell it! I’m Sophie, and today I’ll be talking about D23. As some of you may know, D23 is the huge annual fan expo about all things Disney. It happened recently, so I thought it would be cool to talk about it here! For this post, I’ll be talking about five things mentioned at D23 that I’m super excited for. So, let’s get into it!
- Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser: Ok, I love Star Wars, so it’s only natural that this is at the top of my list. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will essentially be a Star Wars hotel. But, it’s going to be so much more than that. It will be a two day, two night experience launching just outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This hotel will be completely immersive with windows that look out to space, themed cabins, and a lightsaber exercise simulator, as seen in A New Hope. The Halcyon (a.k.a the hotel) will even have a “port day” in Batu’u. Your choices and actions aboard the ship will affect your experiences, both on and off the ship. I am super excited for this hotel and can’t wait for it to open!
- The Transformation of Epcot: Disney announced at D23 that Epcot will soon be transformed into something unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and it’s already begun. Epcot will soon be divided into four neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Celebration. I’ll talk more about Epcot in another post, but for now, I’ll leave it at this: It’s going to be amazing.
- Avengers Campus: Avenger Campus will be the new Avengers themed land in Disney California Adventure. From the concept art Disney has released, this will be epic. The Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB for short) will be home to the brand-new Spider-Man attraction, where you board Peter Parker’s new web-slinger vehicle to round up his missing Spider-Bots. The other main attraction will be opening in Phase 2 of this land, where you will get to board a QuinJet and enter a battle in Wakanda with the Avengers. This attraction will utilize a completely new ride system, which the Imagineers are currently working on. Pym Test Kitchen will also be here, where Pym Technologies is using Pym Particles to enlarge and shrink food. I can’t wait to visit this new land, which opens in 2020.
- Disney+: Yes, this has been known for awhile now, but many new details were shared at the expo. For those of you who don’t know, Disney+ is a new streaming service by Disney, coming in November 2019. This will have Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more movies and TV shows. Some things that are Disney+ originals are Noelle, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Mandalorian. I am very thrilled that this is coming and can’t wait to try it out!
- Disney Cruise: Disney recently announced three new cruise ships: two currently unnamed ones and the Disney Wish. The Wish will feature Rapunzel on the hull, painting the title of the ship. These new ships will be bigger, newer, and more technologically advanced than their predecessors, and I am very excited to see how they turn out.
Well, there you are! Those are the new things coming to Disney that I am the most excited for. I can’t wait to see how these turn out in the years to come. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you now know more about what’s coming to Disney. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time on DisForKids!
