Hey everyone! Welcome back to DisforKids, where we talk about Disney as only a kid can tell it! I’m Sophie, and today we’ll be talking about the coming changes to one of Disney World’s parks: Epcot. At the 2019 D23 fan expo, tons of new details were released about what’s coming to Epcot. Most of these changes should be complete by 2023. Some of these changes make me sad, but overall, I’m super excited for what’s going to happen in the coming years.
- New neighborhoods: Epcot currently has three main “lands”: Future World East, Future World West, and World Showcase. Soon, Epcot will be renovated into four neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase (which will just be updated with minor changes). This is a big change from Future World, but it will be much better in the long run.
- World Celebration: World Celebration will be located in the center of the park, including the entrance and Spaceship Earth. Spaceship Earth will be seeing some major updates, changing from a journey through time to an experience about the storytelling of the human journey, while following a “story light” to guide you through it. There will also be an architecturally stunning new pavilion, with great views of the new fireworks spectacular. Epcot’s main entrance will be renovated, in a way that is reminiscent of the original entrance: filled with lush landscaping, and without the “Leave a Legacy” stones that have marred the entrance for years.
- World Nature: World Nature will be located on the right side of the park, including The Land pavilion and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. The Circle of Life environment show in The Land will be closing, with the show “Awesome Planet” replacing it in January of 2020. There will also be an all-new attraction, called “The Journey of Water”. This will be inspired by Moana, taking you on a journey through lush greenery and fountains, which tend to have a life of their own, just like in Moana, while teaching you about the water cycle.
- World Discovery: World Discovery will be on the left side of the park, including Mission: SPACE, the new PLAY! pavilion, and the awesome Guardians of the Galaxy coaster. There will be a new Mission: SPACE themed restaurant, which will take you 220 miles into space (not actually:). This restaurant is called Space 220, and will feature windows that show you space, in real-time. The PLAY! pavilion will be in the location of the former Wonders of Life pavilion, and will feature learn-to-draw classes by Edna Mode, a new Zootopia experience featuring Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, and meet and greets and other games. The thing I’m most excited for here is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This will be the first coaster of its kind, featuring a backwards launch at the beginning and a car that spins 360 degrees to make sure you see all of the action. This will be so awesome, and huge!
- World Showcase: This classic area of Epcot will be renovated, and will feature some new experiences. In the United Kingdom pavilion, you will enter the first Mary Poppins inspired attraction, where you will walk down Cherry Tree Lane and go into Number 17. O Canada!, the CircleVision show in the Canada pavilion, will be replaced by Canada: Far and Wide. Similarly, the Reflections of China show in China will be replaced by Wondrous China. A Beauty and the Beast sing-a-long will be placed at the end of the Impressions d’France show in the France pavilion, and a Ratatouille ride will also be coming to France.
Well, there you have it! These are the new transformations coming to Epcot, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store! I love Epcot, and I can’t wait to experience the new version of it. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you now know more about what’s coming to Epcot. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time on DisForKids!
